About Enrollment

1. Do I have to take Online English for Postgraduates in order to graduate?
➡️ Whether this course is required for graduation is determined by your

department. Please consult your department before enrolling.

2. I have never taken Online English for Postgraduates before. How do I

enroll?
➡️ Prospective students may EITHER take the placement test or upload an
-
approved English proficiency test score report. Once you complete either
-
process, your enrollment is complete.

3. I have taken Online English for Postgraduates before. Do I still need to enroll each semester?
➡️ Yes. Returning students who wish to continue taking the course must register
-
through our course enrollment system during the designated enrollment
-
period each semester.

4. I have taken Online English for Postgraduates before, but my student ID
-
has changed. The enrollment system is asking me to take the placement
-
test again. What should I do?
➡️ Please email lixuan17@ntu.edu.tw and include the following information:

Your previous student ID
-
Your current student ID
-
The reason your student ID was changed
5. I have registered through the Online English for Postgraduates enrollment

system. Do I also need to register through NTU's course selection system?
➡️ No. Once you have enrolled through our enrollment system, you do
-
NOT need to register again through NTU's course selection system.
6. I have completed enrollment, but i don't see Online English for Postgraduates
-
Postgraduates on my course list. Why?
-
➡️ This course has a specific enrollment schedule. The class roster will be
-
imported by the Office of Academic Affairs after the add-drop period.

Typically, this course will appear on your course list during Weeks 3-4 of each
-
semester.
About Placement Test
-
1. Do first-time students have to take the placement test? Can I use a
-
previous English proficiency test score report for placement instead?
-
➡️ Not necessaryily. If you submit a score report from an English proficiency test
-
recognized by our Center, you will be placed into the appropriate course
-
level. Please note that you must choose EITHER taking the test or submitting a
-
score report for placement. For more information on the placement criteria,
-
please refer to this webpage.

2. Can I use a previous English proficiency test score report to waive this
-
course?
➡️ The role of the Center is to offer a language course for graduate students. We
-
do not accept any applications of course waivers. The score report is solely for
-
placement, NOT for course waivers. Please do not confuse these two. For
-
couse waiver applications, please consult your department for more details.

3. I have taken the placement test before, but I wasn't satisfied with my
-
result. Can I take it again?
-
➡️ No. The placement test can be taken only once.

4. I have enrolled in "Online English for Postgraduates" before. Do I still need
-
to take the placement test?
➡️ No, Students who have previously enrolled this course CANNOT take the
-
placement test again. You may continue taking this course through our course
-
registration system or sumbit a recognized English proficiency test score report
-
to be assigned a course level.
About Course Website

1. I have already registered for this course. Why can't I log in to the website?
➡️ The couse website is not immediaely available after you register for the couse.
After a new semester begins, enrolled students will receive a course
notification email with login information.
2. Why is there no sound when I play the videos in the course materials?
➡️ If your comupter has a third-party decoder or screen recording software
installed, it may interfere with audio or video playback. Please uninstall or
disable the software and try again.
